I suggest repairing the installation if the software contains errors regarding its functionality. This can be done by double clicking the same installer you use to deploy the application or go to the Uninstall a program in Control Panel. Click on the name of this application and choose Repair instead of Uninstall or Modify. It will copy all the default files back as they are without touching your preferences since those are stored in custom files.
Additionally, check that you load compatible content. You can see that in File > Open and then File type. That's the content supported in Digitalmax PhotoStyler.
Note: If you are in Windows 7 or 10, right click the executable file and choose Run as Administrator
