You don't need a 3rd party application to connect the devices you mentioned because both computer can be connected using a network cable. Since the HP Tower will have a Linux based operating system, it will probably use Samba as the network sharing option. In case you don't want to use Samba as the network file sharing client, then you can always use the FTP server that is available on the HP Tower computer which still uses the network.
