This type of applications are usually against all ToS available which means they offered the possibility to download copyrighted music which is illegal. Secondly, it's possible that the developers have been targeted by copyright laws and ceased all support for development.
I believe this is the only possible cause to the issues you're having. Always choose alternatives like Spotify, Pandora (free listening), Google Play Music, etc.
