The software which you possess is very old. There have been 8 years between the release of the software and the latest operating system available. From what I understand, I believe that you have Windows Vista/7. There operating systems have some requirements for an old application to run properly.

You could try the classical approach by setting the executable to run in compatible mode for Windows XP because this operating system handles pretty well programs that have been created. You can do this by right clicking the main executable, choose Properties > Compatibility > (drop-down menu)> Windows XP Service Pack 3.

If this approach is not working, then I suggest you contact the company which developed the product and ask for a newer version of the software.

sorry to say but if your using XP, defragmenting your hard drive won't do anhtying for your systems speed. The reason why is that XP saves everything on the hard drive fragmented thats how it works. If your using a FAT32 hard drive defragmenting will speed up the system but XP on a Sata hard drive will not.
