Based on what you've said, most likely the file got corrupted making it impossible to launch it. However, most Word versions have an AutoRecover function that can be accessed from the File menu. Open Word, then go to File > Recent and use the Recover Unsaved Documents option. If you are lucky, the file might be accessed using this procedure. I also advise to avoid using apps that "claim" they can repair files as there is no such things and will pay for very expensive apps that have no use.
