You can't do this with the above software because that's just a converter which means it takes an input (video file) and provides an output (different video file format). You need an application that has been created exactly for your objective and luckily, there are a few available for this operation.
The one I used is called ProShow Gold and it does exactly what you want: creates movies and slideshows with images, text, effects, animations, etc. It provides all the necessary features and besides that, it also allows you to export your content to a wide range of formats like (CD, DVD, direct YouTube upload, AVi, MKV, etc).
