If you want to apply an update package, then you can do it without uninstalling previous updates. In case there is an update matching the one installed on your machine, it will be updated automatically if that's the case, or skipped. The updates to previous versions stopped the installation, but the things evolved now and there is no need to manually remove an update from your computer because the installer will do the rest.
