There is no information about the software and its contents, but as far as I know, developers place font files in the installation folder of the software. You can check it in Program Files or on the DVD with the software. The same goes for the songs. It might be possible to read them through My Computer, but it they're encoded on the DVD, then yes, you will have to use the DVD each time you want to listen them.
