We are using GSview Version 2.7 to view our output postscript files. We currently compare a series of output files using Beyond Compare. What we are looking to do is compare the text and graphs of the files using Beyond Compare, such that the text can be compared and the actual graphs can be compared with any differences marked. Unfortunately, Beyond Compare does not compare postscript files directly. The postscript file must be converted to an image file, such as PDF, TIFF, JPEG, JPG, PNG, or BMP and compared using Beyond Compare's Picture Compare to highlight differences within the images. My questions are:

  1. I have attempted to convert a postscript file (.prn is how it is saved) to a PDF file (using a virtual PDF printer), but when I print via GSView, nothing happens. I am however able to convert other files outside of GSView to PDF. Are there any features within GSView that could be used to do this?

  2. How would I convert a postscript file (.prn is how it is saved) to any other image file mentioned above? Are there any features within GSView that could be used to do this?

  3. Is there any other product that could be used to compare the text and graphs in 2 different postscript files. Because we are currently using Beyond Compare, we prefer to use this software to do the comparisons.

I appreciate your help. Please let me know if I should call to discuss.

I have searched for a way to compare PRN files, but there isn't one. No application is available for this process, instead there are apps that have the capability of comparing various files. You can browse the database of Software Informer to obtain additional information about these apps. Secondly, I have also checked the Beyond Compare website and its feature and the best way is to contact them.
