With Microsoft Digital Image, can I make images background transparent?

No, you can't make the background of images transparent, because the software doesn't have those functions. Besides that, it was discontinued a long time ago. There are other applications released nowadays that have that possibility. For example, you can use Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, or Photoscape. All these applications have the capability of editing a picture from "top to bottom".

You can make a transparent background by saving pic in png format - you will need to remove any background manually by using the select feature and then delete. Then you can save it as png.
