How to update Internet Download Manager? The update feature doesn't work, neither manually nor automatically. How do I fix this?
If Internet Download Manager fails to update then this can be an issue caused by 2 files or your firewall/antivirus. Firstly, navigate to C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc, find the files hosts and lmhosts.sam and make sure that they don't have any lines with internetdownloadmanager.com or tonec.com. Another reason could be the IDM proxy/socks server settings that does not work anymore or has some other problems. To repair this you should open Options->Proxy / Socks dialog window and disable (uncheck the boxes) Use proxy and Use socks options. If still it doesn't work you should check the firewall's settings because some firewalls check the size of the applications executable files which are accessing the Internet as it is possible for a virus to replace an app with it's own file and access the Internet.
