Is QuickTime plugin available for Google Chrome by default, or do I have to download it?

No, the QuickTime plugin is not available by default in Chrome installations. You will have to manually add it through the Quicktime's automatic installation. To do this, simply download QuickTime from the official website, then close all the browsers and proceed with the installation.

After installation, go to Chrome and type chrome://plugins. Scroll down until you see it and tick the Enable button in case it's disabled and that's it. Next time you visit a website that requires QuickTime, you will be notified to accept its playback or not.

Oh, if it was that simple. QT plug-in is no longer available as a plug-in using chrome://plugins/.
