I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium on a HP g7-1720eb laptop. Despite my best efforts and having been an ICT specialist for decades, nothing I have tried and/or dug up on the Internet after an almost continuous 2-day effort has allowed me to get this software installed. After confirming the installation and the progress bar flying across the subsequent window, all popups vanish and there's no indication anything has been installed. And there are no previous versions published, so I can't try something that was previously working either. HP doesn't recognize the part number, the model number, the serial number or anything else I've been providing it, and therefore I can't find the WiFi card reference number I need to order it. Since HP has the reputation of having whitelisted supported WiFI card numbers in BIOS I can't turn elsewhere either. The hope was that SSF would do the trick.

You can install the application on Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, but it is necessary to modify registry permissions. To do this, I recommend checking the HP Official forums. Some users claim the error was fixed using instructions in the forum posts.
