No, there is no official application, but you can use en email client. Gmail supports both POP3 and IMAP which means it's easier to configure Gmail inside the email client I've mentioned about. For example, use the settings in the image below to activate the services and then download Thunderbird. Install it and add your account. The activation process should be automatic once you fill the required fields after you click on Configuration instructions to see what server address, protocol, or encryption is required.
