I have QuickTime Player version 10.3 (727.4) On my Macbook Pro OS X 10.9.5. Can I purchase QuickTime Pro from the Apple Store, or do I need QuickTime 7?

It doesn't matter the version installed on your Mac. Yes, you can buy it from the Apple Store. Go to the Apple Store's page and buy the application from that location. Once everything is completed in terms of purchasing and confirmation, the software will be available for downloading from your account. An older version of QuickTime will be overwritten by the new one.
