According to the official description, My Thread Box doesn't actually work on Windows 8. It requires Windows 95 and later. At the time of release, there was no information about Windows 8. However, right click the setup or executable of the file and select Properties > Compatibility. Choose Windows XP from the list and attempt to launch it. If it doesn't work, the only thing you can do is to install Windows XP through virtualization and then it's possible to install My Thread Box.
