How do I remove ShoeBoxEngine from my phone?

What is this Shoebox Engine on my phone and how did it get there? How do I get it off? It eats my battery. It's the number 2 user of my battery life and it won't let me make it go away.

The ShoeBox engine provides support for your gallery images. It's actually a "media scanner" that provides support to your images. It's advised to leave it installed on your phone.

Secondly, go to Settings > Applications manager> Slide to ALL tab > Media Storage > Enable.
