Do I need to tell the printer that the black ink cartridge has been refilled?

Never believe your ink monitoring software. There is almost always some ink left in the cartridges when it begins to tell you they are empty. I suggest replacing cartridges when the printouts become faded.

After you have refilled the tanks, simply insert them and print a test page. At this point, the printing head will transmit the level of the ink to the PC and the software. There is no need to do anything. Simply use the maintenance section, print a test page and do an alignment operation. The printer will auto-configure itself allowing you to print as you should.
