If you have problems opening the system applications, try performing a Factory Reset operation. You can do this from Settings > Privacy > Factory Reset. It seems the system apps have been corrupted or a file that's generally needed can't be accessed. Resetting the tablet will also restore the system's functionality (apps included as well).
