I need help with the Hangouts and Talk apps.

I have the Samsung Elite through Metro PCS. I can't make or receive calls and the same goes for the MMS's. I know that it is the Hangouts and Talk app. When I try to update the Hangouts I receive an error 492. When I try to open the talk app it states that it has stopped working and closes. I am not near a store to take it in. So I have to fix it myself. Please walk me through the process on how to fix this problem please.

This problem is related to the cache of the following apps:

  • Google Play Store
  • Google Play Services
  • Google Play Framework.

Access all of these three from the Applications > Settings > Applications manager > All. Tap on each of the application and then tap on Clear Cache. Reboot the phone and update the application again. However, it's recommended to keep only one application installed, in this case Hangouts since Google Talk is not supported anymore.
