How do I stop PictureProject's "import assistant" from opening on startup?

How do I stop PictureProject's "import assistant" from opening on startup? I have tried going into the the Control Panel and changing it in the Starup programs but was unable to disable it that way.

PictureProject will not let me delete pictures.

I cannot delete pictures from PictureProject (tried cut and drag to trash as well). It quits unexpectedly.

Can't connect the camera to transfer pictures. What should I do?

Any time I try to transfer pictures taken with Nikon CoolPix L3, there is no response from the software, and there is a message that the camera is not connected (USB2).
