To make sure the UPS is working well, start the software and leave it running then disconnect the main power from the AC and watch its behavior. A standard UPS will hold the power for the computer for 15-30 minutes based on its model or brand. If you have power, it means the UPS is doings its job. It will beep when the level of energy is about to be consumed entirely.
