Green light (Online) information for Skype

My daughter is gone on holiday overseas and had left her laptop home in her unit. When I went to Skype yesterday, I noticed the online green light next to her name. I tried to ring her thinking that maybe she was back home but could not hear any ringtone. I am sure she switched off her laptop before leaving. My question is: is it possible that even if her laptop was switched off and I try to skype her, the online green color next to her name can be displayed?

It's impossible and this must be an error. Even if you are offline, Skype will always show you as being offline. There is no setting or something related to show you online while there is no connection of the Internet. However, it's possible that she logged on her mobile phone and didn't answer.
