This means that you don't have any signal at all, just like when you don't have a signal on TVs. To change this, go to Video settings and make sure to select a proper device to be captured because this is a capture device. It captures data streams from various products (TV tunner, attached PS3, XBOX, etc.). Once you specify the correct capture source, the grainy and fuzzy effect will disappear.
