If you have an active security solution (antivirus, firewall) try to add the application to the exclusion list. This way you will allow it to communicate with Internet without the need to ask for permission or being blocked automatically. Once you do this, the application should work just fine.
On the other side, there is the possibility the activation server to be down or in maintenance. In this case, you can simply try again later.
