How to use AVG to scan a program for a virus.

Question

I've used AVG to scan my desktop icons for virus infections and compatibility issues by right clicking the icon and then selecting AVG. I'm using Windows 8, by the way.

However, there is 1 program in particular, Nokia Music Player, where AVG does not appear, as an option, after I right click on the icon.
Is there another way to check the "Shell" and extension for virus and compatibility issues rather than right clicking on the icon?
Also, is there another way to scan an individual program with AVG besides the desktop approach?

Open AVG and peform a general scan by selecting the drive where the application is installed. It's practically the same thing, only that it will take a little longer to finish.
