I am repairing a Dell E510 desktop for a friend. The computer was infected by a very nasty virus. I had to reformat the hard drive and re-install Windows. I installed the recommended SigmaTel audio driver from the Dell Driver website. The audio works fine but every time it boots "Windows has encountered an error and must close this application." I send off the little error report and when I hover the cursor over the icon in the system tray it disappears. The audio still works fine.
How can I get rid of this annoying warning?

You need to make sure that you're downloading the right driver for your newly installed operating system. Browse to the support website and download the audio driver based on your operating system (Xp or Vista 32bit) then perform another installation.
