Sims 3 turns off mid game, it blinks, and throws me out of the game (the computer is still turned on). What is the problem?

The error is caused by the bugs of the game, you need to update it. Register at the The Sims 3 website using the CD-key for your game then download the available patches and apply them to your game. On the other hand, Sims 3 requires Origin to work properly and patching could be done from Origin automatically when you add the game.
