The black screen error is caused by your video card drivers. In order to fix it, I suggest you upgrade the drivers. For this purpose, go to Start, type dxdiag and open the utility. Click the Display tab, check your video card model and download and install the latest drivers available from the developer's web page. Also make sure you have installed the latest DirectX.
