I removed my OpenOffice 3.2 because it makes so many mistakes, that it becomes impossible to use it.
For example : After I type in some letters it looks like R e c "and included Chinese or Japanese Characters" instead of "äöü" and so on.
This is a problem related to the registry and the files used to work with the application. Try to remove the application completely, then use a registry cleaner to remove broken dependencies and any other errors. Since I believe this is a registry error, try re-installing the application. You also need to make sure that the fonts are properly installed in your computer.
