Besides software, you also need to install the drivers for the camera or it won't work properly. The driver ensures the computer recognized the camera and allows you to use it with the software you've just installed. If the software is from the webcam, try restarting the PC or simply unplug and then plug the webcam again but it's recommended to just restart the PC. Alternatively, open the software and configure it to use the newly installed camera.
