What is an advantage of having Windows XP Service Pack 3, instead of Service Pack 2?

There's not much difference between them... Only some Visual Programs and some other bugs have been cleared... But why do you bother for it when you have the latest release WINDOWS 7 and also you can get Chrome OS from the open source...

It's a very big difference. The problem is in the application's compatibility. Service Pack 3 was a major step for Windows XP and Microsoft. In Service Pack 3, there were multiple kernel features implemented that newer applications need. To have most compatibility for your programs, you should upgrade immediately to Service Pack 3, even if Windows XP isn't officially supported anymore.
