Can't organize my photos because these are marked with a "?". Why?

I was attempting to organize my photos within PictureProject and now they are grayed out with a "?" on them. Any attempt to recover them tells me that the original file is missing. Clicking Find does not locate them. I do not believe I deleted anything, simply moved them to folders I had established for sorting purposes. Are these photos gone? Thank you for any help.

If you get a ? over the images, it means that the files are not in their original place. The photos are gone and can be recovered using a recovery application. Recuva is a good example, in this case. It should be able to recover most of the photo files.
