Atheros Communication is used to manage and control your LAN or wireless devices. In most of the cases this software contains the driver so that the devices will get recognized and installed properly in order to use the Internet. If you don't want the application installed, you can uninstall it from the Program Features/Add & Remove programs in Control panel, but notice that in some cases your networks adapters will also get uninstalled.
