Based on the error message I conclude that you've tried to actually install an upgrade patch which might not be compatible if you don't have an actual product installed.

Access the developers website and click on the Free Trial, then wait for the page to offer you the streaming installed. By streaming installer, I mean that it will connect to the Internet and download the necessary files to deploy the program on your PC and then you will have ACDSee Photo Studio Standard 2018 ready to be used.
