I downloaded the demo to try with my Passap E6000 knitting machine. I understand there is a limit to the usage, but my problem is that as a demo I'm apparently not allowed to connect it to my machine. So my question is how am I suppose to know if it is going to perform the way I want if I can't try it? You could limit the # of stitches that it could be used for.

Yes, this is a limitation of the software. It doesn't allow to connect a machine to transfer, upload, download and extract the data. This is the way the software has been designed.

If you are not satisfied with the way the demo works, you can then simply forward this to the developers, but I doubt they will do something about it and will recommend to actually buy the program instead.

In addition to the software we also distribute a variety of optional physical cable links, which interface to knitting machines of various kinds. Without the cable links, DesignaKnit cannot connect to knitting machines, so we don't see much point in allowing the Demo to use them.
A second reason for not providing a demo that can do everything is that we don't want to make it too easy for hackers to break the licensing and sell our software. Hackers will try the Demo first.
