I have the Daystar Premier 7.6.8 digitizing software. I am told that if my XP compatible computer crashes, I will not be able to install he software on another XP. I have used this software since it first became available through Pantograms and SWF East. Are there upgrades to make the software usable on the new computers?

The software doesn't appear to be available anymore, therefore it's impossible to say if there are any available updates or not. I've used the available developer's name and then user Google along with some search queries to try to identify the official website, but it appears that nothing is available.

Yes, if the PC crashes, you won't have the possibility to install the software again.

As a solution, create a backup of the installation directory, then go to Start > Run > regedit and expand the HKEY_LOCAL_Machine > Software. Locate the folder that corresponds to DayStar, then right click it and export the REG file to a safe place. In that case, if the software crashes, you can merge the reg file again and copy the backed up files.
