Snapchat screen.

Question

Recently my friends and I realized that we have the same people on Snapchat, however they are listed under different names. How does Snapchat determine what name appears? I thought everyone would be listed as their screen name. For example, my friend is listed under her full name on my phone, but listed as only four letters on my husbands. Why?

Each person who uses Snapchat has the possibility to changing the way they appear on Friends list when they're added. For example, you can change your name from Appear as in your profile to whatever you want so when someone adds you and you confirm the action, the name in their Friends list will appears based on what you've set up, therefore the way they appear on yours differently.
