It says the program downloaded is for 32/64bit systems, but when I try to install, it tells me that it's for 64 bit systems.

Download the application, then right click the setup package and choose Properties > Compatibility then select Windows 8 from the list.
1st I'd like to ask if your system is 32 or 64 bit OS? I'm assuming it is 32 which is why a 64 bit program won't install. If this is the case you may want to see if they have the program in just the 32 bit version and then try and install it again.
it alerts the user if it is for 64 bit, while you may use 32 bit. for check bit do click start, search, type system. if you 64 bit DOWNLOAD for 64 bit if you 32 bit DOWNLOAD for 32 bit
