How to screenshot on android zte?

@ andrew.. on the zte merit that doesnt work. It just brings up the turn off menu.  
Tried it multiple times and it works fine with my LG Optimus 3D.  
If you press the volume down button on the side of the phone and power button on top of the phone together you can get a snapshot!  
when i press the volume and the power button, it flashes, but then i go to my gallery and its not there.

Unfortunately this feature isn't available with the zte Merit. I guess they figure that cheaper phones shouldn't come with features of more high end models.  
i tried the home button and the power button together it still didnt work i tried the power button and the down volume button it didnt work i tried downloading screenshot apps it say you need to... 
It works great on the AT&T ZTE Z998 Go phone. All you need to do is press the Power button and the Volume down button at the exact time.  
None of this stuff work fot Samsung Concord V768  
For the AT&T ZTE Z998 GoPhone you have to press the power button and volume down button and the same time and hold it for a few seconds and you will see a flash and it will make a little noise....
