The files had a digital signature when they were encrypted. That digital signature isn't available now if you've installed the OS and set up another fingerprint to unlock the laptop or files, but that doesn't mean you can't try it. Firstly, install the fingerprint driver and software then use the application to encrypt to scan for files. If they're recognized, attempt an unlock using the current fingerprint. If it's not working, you will not be able to decrypt the files.
