I have installed the application and it seems there is no option to configure to disable update checking. The software will check for updates from time to time and the only way to overcome the annoying pop-up is by closing it. However, the older version and the new version work correctly which means that you should updated to the latest version. The client kept its interface functionality and there were no major changes to the way it works.
