I have an Xperia M and I have Windows XP SP3. I installed Sony Companion in my computer but it does not detect the phone.

You've probably installed another version of PC Companion, because there are multiple versions. Download the application again then activate USB Debugging on the phone from Settings > Developer settings. Reconnect the phone and accept any Windows driver installation. On your phone, select Media Storage then PC Companion will detect your phone.
