When I connect my cell phone to my tablet via USB it requires to use "mass storage and com port". When I choose com port, there is no change in Internet connection availability. Can you help?

To enable the Internet, you need to make sure to enable USB Tethering. This option will enable Data connection on your phone and it will stream it to the available (connected) devices. You need to have an active data plan in order to use this feature. If the phone is connected through WiFi, there is no possibility to stream the Internet connection received from the WiFi network.

Don't get lost in these complexities, I give you a
better option. Install Folder Lock for Android in
your Android tab. Enter the app after the
formalities of password and all. Switch on your
WiFi and tap on the option of PC/Mac in the
app. Just enter the address that it gives in your
computer's browser and your Android device will
be connected to your PC or Mac without any
cable.

It's useless as these days all the Android phones come with USB Tethering option.

You can use "Tethering & Portable hotspot" feature on your Android to connect to the internet. It's free and effective.
