No matter what I do I cannot upgrade to the latest Reader. I have 8.1.2 and it won't uninstall. When I tried to install version 9 , I received an error. The error that comes up is "Error 1606: Could not access network location.". This was not installed through a network and Adobe says I should remove Microsoft Office and then try it again. I shouldn't have to remove another program that works correctly.

Try removing the file COMPLETELY then going and finding the version you want and download it manually... if it wont uninstall right click it- delete make sure its in Recycle bin then run CCleaner

Try using Revo Uninstaller. Even if it can't uninstall the application normally, it will force it to uninstall by wiping out all traces of its presence from the system.

Additionally, download Adobe Cleaner tool to remove Adobe installation then you can install it normally.
