The update manager can be found in the Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel where you can remove it.

When I try and remove the update manager, sweetim asks for all kinds of permissions on my computer AND sets about INSTALLING!!!

Go to Start > Run. Type 'regedit.exe' hit enter. Click "my computer' in the left. Go to 'Edit' at the top left. click 'find'. Search for 'sweetpacks'. Right click and delete whatever comes up with the name 'sweetpacks'. Press the F3 button to find the next search item, keep deleting as they come along. Good luck :)

I was able to remove it via the add/remove programs, along with an extension called Wamjam which installed with it. Both are gone from Firefox and IE. However, I did run Malware bytes before I did this and remove three “installer” infections first. Also, there was a “capcha” to remove Sweetpacks. I thought this was unusual, I did it nonetheless and checked my browsers, the extension was still there. I looked in add/remove programs again and there it still was as well, but this time it “removed” without the “capcha” and as far as I can tell it’s gone.
