Before you migrate the application to Windows 8, you need to make sure that the application has Windows 8 compatibility. As I can see, you try to migrate the application from Windows 7. The fact is that these two operating systems are close to requirements so, in my opinion, I should say that if the application worked correctly on Windows 7, there's a big chance that will work on Windows 8.
