I've searched the web, but didn't find anything about the Microsoft Alerts Daemon application. Because of this, it's impossible to say if it requires an update or not, but based on what I know, this could be part of the Microsoft Office, therefore the only way to update it is through its own updater application.
If you have it installed, start the program then check its Help section (only if it exists) and available methods to update it.
