High resolution monitors compatibility.

Package says, it supports up to 1024 x 768 resolution. Will new drivers extend this to 1600 x 900?

According to the description posted on various websites, you can use the device with resolutions up to 1680 x 1050 which is more than you've mentioned in your question.

"This compact adapter supports widescreen resolutions up to 1680x1050 and standard resolutions up to 1600x1200."

However, if you plan to do intensive graphical processing, then you should know it won't keep up as it's a cheap device.
