This could happen because of touchscreen errors or because of launcher. However, if the touchscreen is working normally, then it's possible that the launcher is faulty and needs repairing or reinstallation. I recommend accessing the Play Store and installing Apex Launcher, Nova Launcher or ADW Launcher. These launchers will allow you to define an infinite number or virtual screens that you can swipe from left to right and right to left.
